A true military classic, this circa 1944 Omega Dirty Dozen is powered by the renowned Calibre 30T2 and forms part of the legendary group of twelve manufacturers commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence during the Second World War.
The so called Dirty Dozen watches were built to a strict military specification with black dials, bold Arabic numerals, railway minute tracks and luminous hands for legibility in combat conditions. Among them, Omega examples are particularly sought after for their robust in house movements and enduring historical significance.
This pre loved example carries serial number 1027****, dating production to approximately 1944. It has been serviced and is running well, keeping time as expected for its age.
The dial shows honest ageing consistent with wartime production and more than eight decades of history, adding to its authentic military character rather than detracting from it.
Of note, the caseback carries no Omega engraving. Research through specialist Omega forums suggests that on rare occasions Sterile casebacks made their way onto some examples. It is also possible that during a past service the caseback was replaced. The interior is engraved with multiple historical watchmaker service marks, a reminder of the decades this piece has remained in circulation.
