
Find Your Ring Size at Home
Here are simple ways to estimate your ring size from the comfort of home – no jeweller’s tools required!
Getting the right ring size makes all the difference. It should feel comfy enough to wear all day, but still slide off when you need it to. Not sure of your size? You can try one of the easy at-home methods we’ve shared below, or pop into Monty’s and we’ll happily check your ring size for you.
Method 1: The Paper or String Method
Best for: Estimating your ring size using finger circumference
You’ll need:
- A strip of paper or string
- A pen
- A ruler (mm)
Steps:
- Wrap the paper or string snugly around the base of your finger.
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres.
- Use a our ring size chart to match your measurement to the correct letters circumference.
Method 2: Use a Ring You Already Own
Best for: Matching the size of a ring that already fits you
You’ll need:
- A ring that fits the intended finger
- A ruler or callipers
Steps:
- Measure the internal diameter (straight across the inside of the ring) in millimetres.
- Match the measurement to our size chart using diameter values.
Example:
16.3 mm – Size L
Monty’s Tips
- Measure at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger.
- Avoid sizing when hands are cold – fingers shrink in lower temperatures.
- Rings should fit snugly but slide comfortably over the knuckle.
- If you’re between sizes, such as an N & O then you’re a size N 1/2.
