This nautical Messer London sextant is a fantastic display piece and collectable. On the inside of the storage box is a sticker from Thos Hemsley & Son Opticians & Nautical Instrument Makers from Tower Hill in London. As a vintage piece it has wear/tarnishing to the metal and glass as shown in the photos. It has also been inscribed with some initials on the wooden section. Please see the photos for further details on the condition.
The Sextant is an instrument for determining the angle between the horizon and a celestial body such as the Sun, the Moon, or a star, used in celestial navigation to determine latitude and longitude.
